Our association

Our association "Gästeführer Region Gera e.V." was founded in 1999 and currently has over 20 active members. All tour guides see themselves as ambassadors for Gera and the destinations of East Thuringia and the Vogtland. In addition to the classic city tours through the historic and modern city centre of Gera, guests can expect a variety of tour offers, including

• City tours by bus or tram
• Guided cycle tours
• Special tours, including on the topics of new buildings, Reußen, music and industrial history, architecture
• Costumed tours
• Guided tours in the city districts
• Guided tours on the occasion of city festivals
• Day tours in the nearer and further surroundings

All members of our association have completed training as certified tour guides in Gera and are members of the Federal Association of Tour Guides in Germany (BVGD). In order to ensure a high standard of quality, regular association meetings are held with interesting lectures for further training. Members regularly receive the latest insights into regional history with first-hand background information from invited experts.

Close cooperation with the Cultural Department of the City of Gera and tourist partners in Gera makes it possible to cater to the individual wishes of our guests and organize an unforgettable tour programme.
